Tomas Sandwich Shop | Our Story

A Sandwich Shop Worth Coming Back To

Tomás was originally a cat from a family in New Jersey. When they could no longer care for him, he became part of our family more than 11 years ago — and from that moment on, he became part of our everyday lives. Intelligent, calm, and always present, Tomás brought warmth and joy into our home through every family moment, challenge, and milestone. Over the years, he quietly became part of the inspiration behind this business. He was there during the conversations, ideas, and decisions that eventually led to Tomas Sandwich Shop. With that same spirit, Tomas Sandwich Shop was built on one simple belief: a great sandwich and a perfect cup of coffee can make someone’s whole day better. Located just two blocks from Central Park on Columbus Avenue, we wanted to create a place that feels welcoming, comforting, and familiar — the same feeling Tomás brought into our home for so many years. Today, Tomás remains a fundamental part of our story, and the heart behind everything we do.
How It Started

How It Started

The owner opened Tomas at 930 Columbus Avenue in May 2024 — an independent, unhurried spot where craft actually meant something. From the first morning, fresh bread and brewing espresso said everything the sign didn't have to.
The Craft of the Sandwich

The Craft of the Sandwich

From a hearty Cuban to a classic tuna sub, every sandwich is stacked with care on toasted bread with real crunch. Nothing is assembled on autopilot — each plate leaves the kitchen looking like someone was proud to send it out.
Coffee, Juices, and More

Coffee, Juices, and More

Smooth Americanos, frothy cappuccinos, and house creations like the Tropical Matcha Cloud and Iced Cinnamon Roll Latte keep guests lingering. Fresh-pressed juices, made daily, round out a menu built to anchor your whole morning.

Neighbors heading to the park, friends on their second coffee, regulars with a usual table — Tomas is a genuine gathering spot on a block that was hungry for something more personal.

The Infatuation and West Side Rag both took note shortly after opening — not because Tomas chased attention, but because guests kept talking.
